Frequently asked questions

 Q:  What are the regions that you deserved ?A:  We deserve the Montreal Metropolitain regions (Montreal Island, south and north shores) 

Q:  My project isn’t complicated, I know exactly what I need.  Do I really need a designer ?A:  Yes of course !  The designer can validate your design and help you in product selection. 

Q: Who should attend our first meeting ? A: Everyone involved in the decision making for your project and any one who may influence your choice should be present.

 Q: Is there something I have to prepare for the first meeting?
A: Preferably, yes. You can draw up a list of things that need to be done and identify your priorities. If an enlargement is required, you should have on hand the page of your certificate of localization showing the position of the house on the land. This will help to show the dimensions of your building and provide other pertinent information.

Q: Do you have a department for plans and design?
A: We have three persons who devote their entire time in designing layout plans.

 

Plans and Estimates

 Q: Who prepares your plans ?

A: We have many professionals that we use depending on the type of project.  Our technologists, designers, architects and engineers will prepare your plans and designs based on your expectations and budget.

 Q: Do you have someone specialized in kitchen layout on your staff?
A: More than one person. Some even have over 15 years experience in the field.

Q: What are the advantages of getting my plans done by you rather by an independent designer or architect ? A: When you select Construction Précellence you have a team of professionals with the proper know-how in construction and renovation whose duty is to cater to your taste and requirements.  In addition, we make it our priority to design plans that meet your budget, thus avoiding pretty designs that do not take into account the realities of cost.

 Q: I already have a plan and an estimate, can you give me a price based on what I give you?
A :Certainly!  However our consultant will first establish a realistic budget for the undertaking with you.  We will then propose an agreement that will enable you to study the plan in detail and plan the other aspects related to the preparation of your project.

Q: Do you have a showroom?
A: Although it is modest compared to those of department stores, our showroom contains a kitchen and a wide range of samples of almost all our in-door and out-door products.

Q: Will you impose material or accessories on us ?
A: No, you always have the last word.  In addition, Construction Précellence will guide you toward material and products that meet your taste, needs and budget.

Planning/Rates

 Q: How long does it take to execute the work ?
A: That depends of the project.  Generally, major renovations of a bathroom may take 2 weeks; a kitchen, 4 weeks; and an enlargement, 12 weeks.  A detailed schedule will be provided to you when we start Phase 1 of your project.

Q: Are your prices competitive ?
A: Certainly, our prices are not only competitive but fair.  Our reputation and the reaction of our clients speak for themselves.

 Permits

Q: Are you familiar with construction and renovation permits and the various regulations ?
A: Of course.  Our experts do all the research to ensure that all codes and standards are fully respected.  It’s one of the first steps in Phase 1 of your project.

Q: How much does a permit cost ?
A: It varies from one municipality to the other.  In Montreal, the cost is around $7 per 1000$ of renovation or construction, for other municipalities, the cost is generally less and some have a fixed tarification (ex: 100$) independently of the cost of the labours.Note:  Not all the works required a permit.

Q: Are you aware of subsidy programs offered by the City of Montreal ?
A: Certainly.  We’ve been involved in renovation and construction projects involving subsidies since 1988 and we are familiar with all the internal workings of the subsidy program.

Guarantees

 Q: What warranty do you give for your work?
A: All our work carries a one-year warranty while structural work is guaranteed for five years. These warranties are completed, if possible, by those offered by manufacturers, e.g.: 25-year shingles. At the end of the work, our clients receive a warranty booklet that is exclusive to Construction Précellence. This booklet contains all pertinent information on warranties for products and accessories that were provided and installed.

Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes. We have a  civil responsability insurance.

 Q: What does “Construction Précellence means” ?
A: Précellence is a French word that, according to LAROUSSE, means:  Excellence beyond comparison.

Q: You won quite a few awards!  It must be expensive dealing with you ?
A: On the contrary, “a reasonable price” is one of the selection criteria for these awards.

Q: Do you do commercial ?
A: Certainly!  We have all the permits and the manpower to undertake any type of project.

Q: What is the mission of Construction Précellence ?
A: Assist people to realize their project.

Q: How long is your first presentation ?
A: Generally between 1½ hour to 3 hours.

Q: Where are we meeting the first time ?

A: The first meeting can take place where the work is scheduled to take place or at our offices. Many clients appreciate having a first meeting at our offices. This enables them to have a good idea of our company and to view our products and the before/after of our projects.

Financing

 Q: Do you offer financing?
A: We have a very interesting and flexible program with TD Canada Trust. There is no charge to open or close an account. The loan can be reimbursed at any time without cost or penalty. The interest rates are very competitive and sometimes there are promotions with considerable rate reductions.

Q: What amount can I finance with the TD Canada Trust program?
A: The amounts generally vary between $5,000 and $50,000. Above this limit, we recommend that you first look for a mortgage loan or modify/renew the one that you currently have.
